Lots of opportunities to explore and practise the use of BODMAS

Originally written by Australian teacher Rex Boggs, this activity has been tweaked slightly for use in a UK classroom.

Students can investigate a variety of expressions and equations and what happens when more than one operation is used. Further questions challenge children to determine where to insert brackets to make an equation true and there are lots of opportunities for further practice. The tns file has 32 pages.

Rather than just memorising a set of rules, children are able to develop a far better knowledge of the order of operations as well as a much deeper understanding of the concepts behind the rules.
